Dysphagia (swallowing) assessments, management and support:

People with swallowing problems might experience coughing or choking episodes when eating and drinking; they might experience recurrent chest infections; or, they might find mealtimes uncomfortable, effortful, tiring or stressful.

Difficulties with eating and drinking can sometimes result in other health problems.

Tanya can diagnose swallowing disorders and support safer and less effortful eating and drinking – whilst ultimately aiming for a more enjoyable experience at mealtimes.

Neurological rehabilitation:

People might experience difficulties with communication following an acquired brain injury (such as a stroke or a head injury) or as a developing feature of a neurological condition (such as Parkinson’s Disease).

There are a range of options to support people with communication impairments, depending on their individual circumstances. These might include direct therapy exercises to improve an area of weakness, strategies to try to work around the problem, and/or strategies to educate and support loved ones and communication partners.

Tanya provides assessment and support for adults with acquired brain injuries or neurological conditions who are experiencing the following:

  • Unclear, slurred or effortful speech
  • Word-finding difficulties
  • Trouble forming sentences
  • Difficulties understanding or processing information (listening or reading)

Please note: this service does not provide assessment for, or setup and support of, communication devices.
